As of today, the Cartoon 'Don Donald' is turning 70 years old. Some Disney-publishers think, thus Daisy Duck is turning 70 now, too. But I think of Donna Duck and Daisy Duck as of two different characters. Even Al Taliaferro thought so and had used her as an own character, which Daisy eventually met. Donna broke up with Donald in favor of her fiancé, Manuel Gonzales, who was a caricature of Al Taliaferro's colleague by the same name, who was responsible for the Mickey Mouse Sunday page. Daisy's real debut wasn't until 1940's 'Mr. Duck Steps Out'.
But don't forget the perhaps even bigger debut of Donald's Belchfire Runabout, called 313. He also appeared in said Movie, although without his license plate.
Al Taliaferro and Bob Karp introduced it to the dailies starting July 1st 1938. It's license plate appeared starting March 22nd 1940. Carl Barks used Donalds car 1943 for the first time: in his 10-pager "Good Neighbours".
I made a little picture in honour of those two:

(Big credit for this picture goes to Henrieke, who made me understand the art of drawing Ducks better, helped me with reshaping the Ducks and even improved their poses in a big way. Thank you. Without your help, this picture wouldn't look half as good!)
