The Floyd Gottfredson Library: The Best of Mickey Mouse - Daily Strips 1930-1933

Book Description [on amazon.com's page]
Disney comics collectors have long reveled in the work of "Duck Man" Carl Barks. Now, by popular demand, Gemstone celebrates Floyd Gottfredson - groundbreaking "Mouse Man" and 2006 Will Eisner Comic Industry Award Hall of Fame inductee! This multi-volume collection brings together the majority of Gottfredson's works, many never-before-reprinted in North America! Volume One traces the earliest, scrappiest Mickey from Gottfredson's first daily strip adventure, 1930's "Death Valley," through such legendary classics as "Circus Roustabout," "Blaggard Castle," and "Mickey Mouse and His Horse Tanglefoot"! Join feisty Minnie, know-it-all Horace Horsecollar, fiendish Pegleg Pete and our daring, two-fisted hero for wild adventures among cowboys, mad scientists, and even (gulp!) city slickers!

(Regarding the Walt Disney Company's ban on certain stories for various reasons pertaining to "political correctness", Gary Leach made the following statement on the DCML.)

"I haven't seen a definitive rundown on the contents of the
Gottfredson books, so I can't speak to what will finally be in them.
It is my understanding, though, that there are restrictions on some
of the earliest strips, due to their content.

Disney does have great enthusiasm for this project, and wants to see
it happen. From what I gather, and for what it's worth, they're as
disappointed as we are that there are some strips they just can't see
their way to allowing to be reproduced."

"I'm sorry to give you bad news, people, but the Gottfredson Library has been postponed for the moment, most likely until next year"

That is, indeed, sad news. But, at least the project will go on. I've waited for 53 years. I can wait one more.
