This should be on the "Bad Side of Barks" thread! He misspelled "borscht"!!! Unforgiveable! :)

Interesting. I checked CBL again, and it really say "borsch" instead of "borscht".

"The idea of being such a SOFTIE!"
free hint: about a hi-fi and other luxury
hint#1: "Now my orders are to free you horses and let you find your way home! Shoo! Scat!"
hint#2: "I guess they're not THIRSTY anymore!"
hint#3: "Dashing! Sigh!" "Sigh!" "Sigh!" "Charming!" "Utterly godlike!"
hint#4: "And here you've been boiling BORSCH all night!"

hint#5: "What is unca Donald doing WRONG this time?"

I remember that misspelling from the first time I read the story when it was new over 40 years ago. It bothered me that "The Good Writer/Artist" (and, indeed, also his editors) would be one of those WASPs (White Anglo-Saxon Protestants) who didn't know (or want to know) about anything from any other ethnicity in USA. It was and still is, a very "racist" nation. After meeting Barks, and learning that he was a wonderfully nice man, I felt better about that error.

Maybe some benefit of the doubt: Could it have been an overcorrection by the editor?

Anything to protect my Barks!

Hello? Is everyone dead? Why didn't you tell me?

Do I need to tell that the hints are quotes out of order, taken from anywhere in the story?

hint#8: It's ten-pager with Donald. He has to stay awake.

O great Egg, poko-de-holo-in-de-water-tanko and let out the secret of this quote! I don't know it, and it appears no one else does either! Relieve our suspense, o great Egg, and clear up this quote logjam (Dr. Witchie Britchie has some more quotes of his own just waiting to get out into the open!)

I give up, too. What is the answer?

Glad to see you are back on the forum, Witchie Britchie. I had hoped having all those dutch language posts on this English forum had scared you and Germund away. I hope this means that WB is back, too. I will be personally visiting Germund in Sweden in a few weeks, so I'm sure I can convince him that it will be worth it for him to give this forum a chance. I may be able to bring a few more Swedes and Danes to McDuck International, for a looksee.

You.. you.. both don't know, Robb en Witchie? You don't know the story where Donald has to count sheep and falls asleep at each attempt?
Please take this as the last hint. If you still don't know, I'll.. I'll.. give you the answer.

This is a black day in the history of Barks worship.

Most important thing is that the forum exists. There is still some technical stuff, like setting up an archive, that gets most attention at the moment. So people have to be creative themselves in living up the fora. Invite friends. Start new topics, contribute to existing topics, and try to get them going. It's like a snowball.

I think this is one of the nicest fora on internet. People even help each other learning English. I think that's worth a lot of compliments.

Oh no, you don't get rid om me *that* easy! I am just buried in work with my PhD thesis, Disney and other scientific stuff, in addition to preparing for an upcoming rock festival in Denmark. Life's busy - but good - and I'll be back! See you in a few weeks Rob - apparently! I still didn't know what your and Anders' plans were...

And by the way, the Barks story is Stalwart Ranger (WDC266).

Hi Germund. That will be great if we can get together in person! Maybe we can also see Ted Johansson and Jacob Hallin, and any other Southern Swedish Donaldists, if it can work out conveniently?

Oeps! I meant to write "hadN'T" scared you away - NOT HAD scared you away!!!

Yep, I am back--well, actually, I never left. Thanks for the welcome in any case, Robb.

So the mysterious quote is from Stalwart Ranger, eh? As I thought, one of the Barks tales I've never read. Sounds very funny, though, judging from the quotes.

And, speaking of quotes, here's one of my own:

"I never had such an unlucky day in all my life! I'll never live this down!"
