Fantagraphics Carl Barks collectie

Berichtdoor admin » vr jan 14, 2011 7:07 pm

Informatie van Chris Mautner, 2 januari 2011, 07:59 AM:
In what is sure to be one of the most acclaimed comics events of 2011, Fantagraphics has announced that they will be publishing a definitive collection of Carl Barks’ seminal run of Donald Duck comic stories. In an exclusive interview with Robot 6, Fantagraphics co-publisher Gary Groth revealed that the company – which announced their plans to publish Floyd Gottfredson’s Mickey Mouse comics last summer – had acquired the rights to reprint Barks’ work from Disney and that the first volume will be released in fall of this year. The comics will be published in hardcover volumes, with two volumes coming out every year, at a price of about $25 per volume.

Although the stories will be printed in chronological order, the first volume, “Lost in the Andes,” will cover the beginning of Barks’ “peak” period, circa about 1948. The second volume, “Only a Poor Old Man,” will cover roughly the years 1952-54 and feature the first Uncle Scrooge story. Later volumes will fill in the missing gaps, including his earlier work, in a process somewhat similar to Fantagraphics’ publication of George Herriman’s “Krazy Kat.”

Subject: Changes in Voodoo Hoodoo, even by Fantagraphics

I don't know if this has been discovered by others as well, but if
not, I thought I should point out here that in the first Fantagraphics
Carl Barks book, Lost in the Andes, there are still changes in "Voodoo
Hoodoo", so that story still hasn't been published in its original
form in the USA since its original publication in 1949.

I posted about that some time ago at
http://krafsklotter.blogspot.com/2012/01/bop-bop-fortfarande-andrad.html
.

I wrote in Swedish, but you can see what's happened in the pictures.
Everything in Africa is intact, but in Duckburg Bop, Bop has a
"NOSSAH!" changed into "NOSSIR!", just like in Another Rainbow's Carl
Barks Library.

This must be just a mistake, since no one would insist on changing
only that and not other things in this story. Just as it's a mistake
that Donald's name is missing from his mailbox in a later panel,
probably because the images are taken from a source where that has
been removed to be replaced with a translation. (I remember similar
problems elsewhere in Another Rainbow's CBL.)

So when if ever do you think Voodoo Hoodoo will be republished
unchanged? Fantagraphics ought to be done with their project in 15
years or so. If then some new collected works of Carl Barks is started
a couple of decades after that it might be just in time for the
centennial of this story!

It all starts with a pencil and it all ends with a Duck....
But the Duck is just the begin of a comic.....
And a world of fun!

-Uncle Scrooge 'Only a Poor Old Man' http://www.bol.com/nl/p/walt-disney-s-u ... 000629719/
-Donald Duck 'A Christmas for Shacktown' http://www.bol.com/nl/p/walt-disney-s-d ... 002298287/

Met name Lost in the Andes. Maar dat is enkel mijn mening,Only a old poor Man is ook erg goed.
